UPR-Proteomics Facility
UPR - Protein Identification and Characterization Facility
The
laboratory infrastructure currently available to the investigators of
the IdeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) include:
- a UVP Biochemi System for chemiluminescent, fluorescent, and colorimetric imaging and analysis
- a Turner Designs TD-20-20 luminometer
- a
Molecular Imager FX Plus System that support single- and multicolor
fluorescence detection by direct laser excitation, chemifluorescent
detection of protein blots and radioisotopic imaging using barium
fluorobromide screens
- four Pentium IV computers with laser color printer, operating systems and suitable scanners
- various electrophoresis systems required to perform analytical two-dimensional (2-D) gels
Future
developments of this facility include the purchase of a Beckman LS6000
Scintillation Counter and new analytical two-dimensional (2-D) gel
electrophoresis equipment.
The Proteomics facility provides
an opportunity for sharing expertise and training in such techniques as
imaging, 2-D analytical gel electrophoresis, Southern, Northern and
Western blotting, single- and dual-luciferase assays and protein
purification.
